Chuck Wentworth brought Michael Doucet and Beausoleil to Rhodes-on-the-Pawtuxet for some foot-stomping Cajun music dancing.

The East Greenwich Odeum reopened (again) with a performance of “Love Letters.”

Kenneth Branagh directed and starred in “Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.” Woody Allen had another hit with “Bullets Over Broadway.” Kevin Costner played a Vietnam veteran in “The War.”

Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise starred in “Interview With a Vampire.” Tim Allen starred in “The Santa Clause.”

Richard Attenborough was a convincing Santa in “Miracle on 34th Street.” while Trekkies enjoyed “Star Trek: Generations.”

Cranston’s Park Theatre was showing four first run movies: “Forrest Gump”; “Only You”; “Quiz Show” and “Clear and Present Danger.”

The Rhode Island Philharmonic celebrated its 50th season with a series of Friday noon concerts at the Vets for only $10 each, three for $25.

Brown University presented Tennessee Williams’ “Orpheus Descending,” directed by Lowry Marshall.

Alias Stage presented Elizabeth Egloff’s “The Swan” in their new location in Providence’s Jewelry District. Luis Astudillo gave an amazing performance as the swan.

Ridiculous names for bands is not a new fad. Twenty years ago we had The Cramps, Bad Religion, Near Death Experience, Brides of Jesus and Lunatic Soup.

Shoney’s on Route 2 in Warwick had Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings for $7.49.
