As the last rays of the sun set, the cobwebs of Rocky Point Park’s yesterdays were cleared away as dozens of children sang “The sun will come out tomorrow” as Annie played on the big screen. Well over 1,000 people turned out for the second Movies at the Park Night last Thursday, created and hosted by the Central Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce (CRICC). About a dozen food trucks, a face painting station, and Rocky Point memorabilia booths were available for movie-goers enjoyment. Two 20-foot screens were set up on the former midway as guests sprawled out picnic style on the park’s iconic green field to watch the show. Additional movie nights are planned for July 30 and Aug. 20, and all events offer free admission. For additional information, visit www.centralrichamber.com/events/7816/movies-in-the-park.
