During the recent winter indoor track and field season, former Pilgrim High standout Melanie Brunelle racked up numerous accomplishments for the Rhode Island College Anchorwomen.

Last weekend, the Warwick resident and Rhode Island College freshman continued her prolific performances, finishing first in the high jump (1.58m) and eighth in the 800m in 2:24.33 to help the Anchorwomen take eighth place in the United States Coast Guard Academy Invitational in New London, Connecticut.

Autumn Wosencroft of Newport led the Anchorwomen, as the one-time Rogers High School star took home three top-3 finishes in the 12-team invitational. Worcester Polytechnic Institute was the overall champion with a score of 139. RIC scored 47.

Wosencroft finished second in the long jump (4.83m), third in the 100m (12.76) and third in the 200m (28.77).

Two other Rhode Island residents – former Cranston High School West sisters Nicole and Eleni Grammas – were among the top scorers for Rhode Island College last weekend.

Nicole Grammas was fifth in the 100m (13.07) and seventh in the 200m (28.62). Her sister, Eleni, finished fourth in the 200m (28.22) and 10th overall in the 400m (1.04.73).

Rhode Island College will be back in action this weekend, competing in the American International College Invitational in Springfield, Massachusetts, on Saturday.
