To the Pointe of Performing Arts: Dedicated to quality dance education for all ages

Posted

She may be only five years old, but even at this young age, she has that sparkle in her eyes as she is prepares to prance onto the dance floor at To the Pointe of Performing Arts studio. Five-year old Natalie, bedecked in pink ballet slippers and a fluffy purple tutu, tugs on her mother's sleeve and whispers with the awe of a star-struck teenager "There's Miss Sheri!" Natalie is pointing to the adored "Miss Sheri", better known as Sheri Masiello, the owner and artistic director of To the Pointe of Performing Arts' three dance studios. Dancers like Natalie and many, many other ballerina-hopefuls, flock to these studios because of the encouraging and nurturing teaching style which Masiello embraces and expects of her team of 15 instructors and staff. Whether you are five or fifty, in pointe shoes or tap shoes, tutus or leotards, you too can find a place to dance at one of To the Pointe's three studios.

Sheri Masiello has been a dancer since she was herself about 5 years old. Masiello started teaching dance when she was 17 years old and in 1999 parlayed her lifelong passion for dance into her flagship studio on Oaklawn Avenue in Cranston. To the Pointe of Performing Arts is a welcoming, bustling and happy place to be for dancers from ages 18 months through adulthood. Here, you are just as likely to see a 3 year old sporting shiny black tap shoes as you are to see a middle-aged woman with her Zumba gear on. There are classes offered in traditional ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, contemporary and pointe, as well as fitness classes such as Zumba and dance aerobics. There is literally something for everyone on the full and varied schedule of classes.

One of the things that sets To the Pointe of Performing Arts studios apart from its counterparts is that the dancers here do not participate in dance competitions. Instead of working for trophies, the goal here is to build self-confidence and to encourage hard work and dedication. While there is an exciting annual recital where the dancers adorn beautiful costumes and perform choreographed numbers, the emphasis here at To the Pointe of Performing Arts is to give expression to the passion to dance and to give students of all ages that feeling of accomplishment and self-mastery. Come feel the positive energy that is evident here from the first pirouette to the last graceful bow.

To the Pointe of Performing Arts studios are located on 999 Oaklawn Avenue in Cranston, on 1525 Smith Street in North Providence, and on 2435 Nooseneck Hill Rd. in Coventry.
