It was a party Friday afternoon at the Cornerstone Adult Services/Apponaug Center as family joined participants to celebrate Mary Bocwinski’s 100th birthday. Mary was born April 23, 1916 in Dupont, PA, and was one of eight siblings. Dupont was a coal-mining town and Mary worked in her parent’s store, which was located in the front of their home. It was while working in the store that she met her future husband, Stanley. Stanley drove a coal truck and purchased his cigars from the store. Mary and Stanley were married in 1941, and had two daughters, Janet and Alice. They lived in Kensington, Conn. and enjoyed traveling the country and camping. Mary enjoys speaking Polish, and likes to sew, garden, cook and crochet. She has two grandsons and one great granddaughter. Mary now lives in Warwick with her daughter, Alice. She is seen here joining in a toast for her continued good health by her daughter, Jan Parker and son in-law Alan Parker. Ron Lemme, pictured with Dottie Santagata of Cornerstone, led the group in singing happy birthday.
