Tom Bucacci-Pezzullo narrowly missed severely poking his eye when he walked into the metal post holding a Gaspee Days banner Tuesday on Post Road in Pawtuxet. On that section of the road, the signs are parallel to the sidewalk making them difficult to see and in some cases less than 6 feet high. Bucacci-Pezzullo’s husband, Mario, said he brought the situation to the attention of the Gaspee Days Committee in May “as an accident waiting to happen.” A member of the committee said yesterday that the low-mounted signs would be removed. I had my eye taken about by one of these signs, but it was not severely poked out. I guess I was lucky.

I did. It just wasn't severely poked out. I can understand someone not wanting to be severely blind in one eye. Just being blind is good enough.
