Three Massachusetts men are facing drug charges after a traffic stop this week yielded thousands of dollars worth of prescription painkillers and marijuana, according to Johnston police.
“The officers did a great job,” said Deputy Chief Daniel Parrillo. “It’s a huge grab for us.”
Parrillo said the stop was made on Killingly Street at approximately 10 p.m. Monday night. The vehicle in question was unregistered, he said.
The operator was found to be unlicensed and was arrested, Parrillo said, while the other two men were removed from the vehicle and it was towed from the scene.
Police subsequently discovered 3,000 oxycodone pills and one pound of marijuana in the car, Parrillo said. He estimated the total street value of the drugs at between $90,000 and $100,000.
The deputy chief identified the men as Alex French, 29; Carl French, 34; and Charles Benson, 30. All three were charged with manufacturing, possessing or delivering a controlled substance, and appeared in court Tuesday.
