Turkey plus a lot of trimmings and care
COOKING UP A FEAST: Jim McGloin, corporate chef, and Jill Ledford of World Dining did all the cooking. Just to be on the safe side, McGloin planned for an attendance of 150. World Dining donated the food and their services. While 120 signed up for the dinner, 67 attended, which had Jackson questioning yesterday what happened. He said the school would host the dinner again next Thanksgiving and it would investigate how to ensure those wanting to attend would get there.

FROM THE TOP DOWN: John Conforti, chief financial officer at Ocean State Job Lot, helped bag clothing donations for those attending the Hendricken dinner.
KEY PLANNERS: Peter Thomas, director of advancement at Bishop Hendricken High School, and Vincent Mancuso, vice president of mission integration, planned the school’s first Thanksgiving dinner for the less fortunate. Thomas turned to Mayor Scott Avedisian for assistance. The mayor helped spread the word among social agencies, including Crossroads Rhode Island, the House of Hope, the Warwick Boys and Girls Clubs, Westbay Community Action and others and then, through Rhode Island Transit Authority, arranged for transportation. Word also went out among local parishes.
