Unwrapping is only hard part to ice cream sandwich cake

Posted

Editor’s note: After reading a recent column on ice cream, Mary Kinsley dropped by the Beacon office to say that she, too, has a passion for ice cream. When she said she has an easy recipe for ice cream cake, we suggested she share it with Beacon readers. Not only did she come back with this recipe, but came back a day later with a sample.

So here’s how she makes ice cream sandwich cake:

– 1 box of twelve Ice Cream Sandwiches (or two boxes for a large cake)

– 1 tub of Whipping Cream

– Caramel FLAVORED SYRUP topping

– Chocolate FLAVORED SYRUP topping

Arrange a layer of ice cream sandwiches in bottom of a 9x13 inch dish; top with a layer of whipped topping, chocolate flavored syrup and caramel flavored syrup topping.

Repeat layering with remaining ice cream sandwiches, whipped topping, chocolate and caramel flavored syrup toppings; ending with a top layer of whipped topping.

Cover dish with aluminum foil and freeze until set, at least 30 minutes.

The only real work this recipe involves is unwrapping the ice cream sandwiches.

Build the cake however you desire, cover with whipped cream.

Optional:– Oreo Cookies (crumbled into pieces)– Candy bars (diced into pieces)  Snickers, Hersheys, Twix, Reeses, M&M’s, Nestle Crunch, etc… – Nuts     -  Prep Time: 10 minutes
