Virginia G. (White) Hill

Virginia G. (White) Hill, age 94, of Punta Gorda, Florida, and formerly of Warwick, died on April 15, 2014, at Charlotte Harbor Healthcare in Port Charlotte, Florida. She was the wife of the late Alexander H. Hill.

Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Frank E. and Agnes S. (Anderson) White, she lived in Warwick for most of her life before moving to Florida in 2011. Mrs. Hill was a member of Woodbury Union Church in Warwick, where she served as a school teacher, elder, and treasurer for 22 years. She was a Past Matron of Sincerity/Adah Chapter, O.E.S. and a Past Grand Marshall of the Grand Chapter, O.E.S. She was a past treasurer of the Presbyterian Womens Organization, a past president of the Daughters of Argyle # 83, and a past president and past treasurer of the Asbury Coasters.

She is survived by two daughters, Susan M. Hill and her husband, Loren Ben, of Punta Gorda, Fla., and Shirley A. Layden of Cranston; and two grandchildren, Hillary M. Layden and Michael A. Layden. She was the mother of the late Stephen G. Hill; and the sister of the late Austin B. White, Elliot A. White, and Shirley H. Anderson.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday, April 26, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a funeral prayer service at 1 p.m., in the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick. Burial will be in Pawtuxet Memorial Park, Warwick.
