Warwick Housing Authority earns high HUD rating

Posted

Mayor Scott Avedisian has praised the Warwick Housing Authority’s administrators and staff for earning a “high performer” ranking from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) during its annual Public Housing Assessment System.

The assessment examines housing authorities on physical, financial, management, occupancy rate and capital fund indicators and provides a score for each category. The total maximum score is 100; the WHA earned 94. The authority has received this score several times in recent years, according to WHA Executive Director Michael Lyckland.

“I congratulate Michael, Deputy Director Julie Finn and all of the hardworking men and women of the WHA,” Avedisian said. “To again earn high marks from HUD shows their commitment to ensuring that all WHA residents have good, safe and affordable housing. I thank them for their ongoing dedication to our community.”
