Stephanie Banville, 21, of 229 Shawomet Ave. in Warwick, was back in trouble on Saturday after police pursued her through Warwick, Providence and North Providence before finally cornering her on Harold Avenue on the northeast side of Providence in the Valley area of the city.
Police said Banville was already on probation for leaving the scene of an accident resulting in injuries when she was stopped for suspected drunken driving in Warwick. Lt. Andrew Tainsh said that Banville, who is on a three-year suspended sentence and has her license revoked, sped off in her car after police pulled it over in front of 840 Post Road about 7:15 p.m. He said she led them on a chase from Post Road to Warwick Avenue then onto Route 10 North into Providence. Tainsh said Providence and North Providence police assisted them in finally catching her in Providence. She was charged with reckless eluding of a police officer and operating a vehicle without a license. He also said a blood sample was taken for toxicology testing. Tainsh said that Banville is on a three-year suspended sentence and had her license revoked stemming from earlier charges. Tainsh said she would be held at the ACI as a probation violator.
