Wedding bells for Cranston’s mayor

Cranston Mayor Allan Fung and Barbara Ann Fenton, who met in 2012 and were engaged last year, married over the weekend at St. Mary’s Church in Newport.

Fung’s father, Kwong-Wen Fung, who had been at Rhode Island Hospital, was discharged in time to make the ceremony and was greeted with applause upon his arrival.

Father Al Ranallo, a close friend of Fenton’s, officiated the ceremony.

The reception was held at the Tennis Hall of Fame, with the couple’s first dance being to Adam Sandler’s “Grow Old With You.”

Jacky’s Galaxie was the caterer, with favorites including bacon-wrapped scallops, steamed salmon, and bourbon steak tips. The wines served were from two Rhode Island vineyards, Carolyn’s Sakonnet Vineyards and Newport Vineyards.

Daniele Perretta from Knightsville was the wedding photographer, and Anthony Crocenzi was the DJ for the reception.

The rehearsal dinner was held at The Red Parrot. Newport Trolley provided the wedding day transportation.

Attendees were given special “Fungamania” badges to get into the private gathering, and custom bags and glasses with that theme were given out as favors.

Fenton’s wedding band includes tanzanite and diamonds to match her engagement ring, while Fung’s wedding band is 14-karat white gold. All the jewelry is from Anthony’s Jewelers in North Providence.
