To the Editor:
On Nov. 2, 2011 the Providence Journal reported that Vinny Paz (a.k.a. Vinny Pazienza) owes about $275,000 in unpaid income taxes to the state of Rhode Island. On Nov. 4, 2011 the Providence Journal reported that Hollywood movie director Mike Corrente – producer of “Paz” – a film about the life of Vinny Paz, is looking for a $3 million tax credit from the state of Rhode Island!
All of this is taking place while Rhode Island’s unemployment rate is through the roof; neighborhoods are being destroyed from bank foreclosures, left and right; our state colleges are forced to increase tuition rates by unprecedented levels; and, retired state workers are on the threshold of losing a substantial part of their monthly pension benefit.
