William C. Martin, Sr., 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, Tuesday, May 12, after a one week illness. He was the husband of the late Doris G. Martin for 60 years.

He was a son of the late Emile and Margaret (Grady) Martin. He was a retired administrator for the Dept. of Employment Security for the State of RI. Mr. Martin was a World War II Army Air Force veteran and became a master sergeant radio operator and top turret gunner on a B24 bomber, serving 28 missions over enemy territory in Europe and he attended Michigan State University and was member and past president of the State Employees Union, Council #22 and was involved in many city and state elections.

He was the beloved father of Patricia C. Precious, William C. Martin, Jr. (Alyssa), and Donald E. Martin (Patricia); brother of Theresa Sprague and the late Edward, Earl, Clarence, Arthur, Joseph Martin, Mildred Hayes, Agnes Watson and Peg Lewis. He is also survived by six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held Friday, May 15, at 9:30 a.m. from the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi, Jefferson Blvd. Burial with military honors will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
