William F. Bishop, age 88, of Merry Mount Drive, Warwick, died on Thursday, July 21, 2016, at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence. He was the husband of the late Dorothy M. (Hultenius) Bishop. They were married for 61 years.

Born in Providence, the son of the late Frederick O. and Ernestine L. (Bischoff) Bishop, he was a life-long Warwick resident. He was a 1950 graduate of Brown University. Mr. Bishop was an electrical engineer, and was employed at Leesona Corporation in Warwick for most of his career. He was later employed at Marshall and Williams Co. in Providence before retiring. He was a member the Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Warwick, Harmony Lodge #9 F. & A.M., the Scottish Rite, the RI Shriners, and the German American Cultural Society.

He is survived by a daughter, Kristine Bishop Chapman and her husband, Gary, of Wakefield; a son, William S. Bishop and his wife, Judith, of Warwick; a grandson, John W. Bishop; two-step-grandchildren, Emily Iredale and her husband, Mark, and Benjamin Chapman and his wife, Natasha; and four step-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 29, at 11 a.m. in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, 6365 Post Road, North Kingstown. Relatives and friends are invited, and may visit on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick.
