To the Editor:
I’ve been a Teamster in the Maintenance Department at Twin River Casino since 1997. I am one of many Rhode Islanders who have made their living while working at Twin River for over 15 years. The years of service that many of the employees have invested with Twin River speaks volumes to what it’s like to work there. Every day brings something new, that’s why I am so excited about bringing table games to Rhode Island.
I’ve seen the facility transform with the times from Lincoln Park to Twin River Casino and we’re hoping to do so again. With the pending casinos in Massachusetts, it’s important for Twin River to remain competitive and there’s no doubt in my mind that the addition of table games is what we need. On Nov. 6, I plan on voting yes on Question 1, which will allow Twin River to maintain the 900 dedicated employees who already work there and lay the groundwork for 350 more to join our team.
In addition to jobs, Twin River hopes to protect the many contributions to local charities that they give like Project Broken Wheel and the Rhode Island Community Food Bank, just to name a few. Talk about giving back to the community. I’ve been lucky enough to take part in many of the projects and fundraisers that Twin River puts on. We, as a state, need to take advantage of the opportunity to preserves jobs, precious revenue and the charitable efforts of Twin River.
I am a lifelong Rhode Islander and happy to be part of the Twin River team. I personally believe it’s a no-brainer to vote yes to table games. This is an opportunity that we cannot afford to let pass us by.
