About 50 high school student artists from across the state gathered Sunday at Warwick Mall for the annual Artistic Discovery art competition sponsored by Congressman Jim Langevin. The entries were judged by members of the Wickford Art Association with the work of the first place winner going to Washington where it will be displayed in the Cannon Tunnel, a pedestrian walkway to the U.S. Capitol in the national exhibition. Erin Turnbull of Scituate High School is the state winner and she will also receive air tickets to the capitol courtesy of Southwest Airlines. Here, Langevin is joined by judges Sarah Tallarico and Judy Salvadore, Ward 5 Councilman Ed Ladouceur and Christina Abramson, who placed third from Toll Gate High School, and Melanie Brunelle of Pilgrim, who received an honorable mention.
