A new cook?

Mayor Scott Avedisian stepped behind the counter at Sam’s New York System on Freeborne Street across from Thayer Arena on Monday to try his hand at preparing hot wieners. The reason for the visit was to put the spotlight on the 50th anniversary of the business that had its start in the Bayshore Plaza at Wilde’s Corner. The plaza is gone, but Sam’s is still here. As a “thank you” to all of their loyal customers, Sam’s has been running a weekly customer appreciation raffle that began on Feb. 12 and runs until March 5. They will be hosting a customer appreciation week beginning March 12, where guests can enjoy their famous hot weiners, any style, for just $1.50 each. Pictured with the mayor are Peter Xiarhos, who runs the business started by his late father, Mike Dunn, Peter’s mother, Kathy, who still works the store, and his brother, George. When Kathy gave Avedisian a thumbs-up for his performance, the mayor joked, “If I lose the next election I’ll be in for a job.” Asked if that was a declaration he’ll be seeking reelection, Avedisian said, “no.” Sam’s is open Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. (Warwick Beacon photo)

Sam's has the best hot wieners in the state!

I visit there almost every week, but as far as Mayor Avedisian working there after he loses the election...maybe not. Better leave that up to Peter, George, and especially Kathy. It does make you wonder though, if Scott Avedisian IS running for re-election, why hasn't he announced? I have.

    Happy Spring everyone.

The fake "mayor" again engages in delusional behavior. No one isofficially a candidate -- no matter when they announce -- until they file the proper paperwork at City Hall and submit valid signatures from voters.

As the fake "mayor" has proven, his decisions on when to announce his candidacy do not change the fact that he is a losing candidate and will lose again because of his ethically questionable and potentially illegal campaign activities:

You announce a lot of things, don't you Richard. Announcing doesn't equate to winning. Something you seem to have a hard time figuring out during your 700 days of campaigning.

Hahaha why hasn't the mayor announced yet Rick? It's because despite your 700 days (less according to the Warwick Post) of campaigning, he only needs about 30 seconds and 40% of the vote to beat you. I'm sure he'll manage. What a total lack of self awareness by a snake oil salesman who embarrases himself in a public forum everyday he chooses to post.

    Hello again Kammy and Scal1024:

As Scal rightly points out, the fake "mayor" can not keep from continually making a spectacle of himself on this website with his lies and delusional statements.

He clearly thinks that announcing for office gives him the right to continually lie to people and get away with it, because he has achieved some kind of recognition in Warwick that serves as cover for his false statements.

[This is not a new or unique phenomenon with uninformed candidates for office, although it does seem to be especially profound with the fake "mayor."]

As we know from proven facts and evidence, the fake "mayor" is a non-factor in anything that happens in the city; his own party's 9-0 city council majority increased revenue from taxes and spending in the current year's budget; and most of the insignificant political contributions he received for his failed 2016 campaign came from Democratic insiders.

In short, the fake "mayor" is a nobody who just hasn't realized it yet, further compounded by his oppositional defiance to acknowledging facts and childish whining when he is caught lying.

I am sure you would agree that this is not suitable behavior for a nearly 67-year-old man who claims to be a successful businessman.

Happy 249 days until we and tens of thousands of honest, taxpaying voters can again reject the fake "mayor" and his pathetic campaign.
