A tradition in the founding

It would seem Senator Michael McCaffrey has started a new tradition in the name of the Irish. Yesterday, St. Patrick’s Day, he hosted lunch for about 150 at the Pilgrim Senior Center. McCaffrey talked about Irish history and the contribution the Irish have made to this country as tradesmen, artists and political leaders. The menu included pea soup [green, of course] and, in keeping with the tradition for the day, corned beef and cabbage. Among those attending was the senior McCaffrey, former Mayor Eugene McCaffrey, who receives a bowl of soup from Jack Rosseta and 93-year-old Mary Monti, who wore her Irish green. With the Irish flag as a backdrop, Senator McCaffrey addresses the group. (Warwick Beacon photos)
