Hawks claim boys T&F title, Pilgrim girls finish 10th

The Bishop Hendricken boys track and field team won the 2018 State Championship at Brown Stadium on Saturday afternoon, claiming its second title in three years with an overall score of 107.

Hendricken’s Sean Meehan took home first place in the 3,000 meter run, while teammate Duwaun Edwards claimed first in the 300 meter hurdles. Hendricken’s Kahlin Watkins later took home first in the long jump for the Hawks.

Hendricken’s Russell White finished second in the 100 meter dash, while teammate Jack McMahon was second in the 3,000 run. Hendricken’s Ryan Morel took second in the hammer throw, while Pilgrim’s Austin Connors took second in the javelin.

David DelBonis claimed third place for Hendricken in the 1,500 meter run while teammate Luke Henseler took third in the 3,000 run. Edwards later finished third in the 110 meter hurdles, while the Hendricken relay team of White, Ethan Pezzullo, Tom Comella and Nic Comella finished third in the 400 relay.

Hendricken’s Edwards, Harry Antone, Fagan and Michael Hanlon later took third in the 1,600 relay.

Toll Gate’s Nikolas Reygadas placed fourth in the 1,500 run, while Fagan took home fourth in the 110 hurdles for Hendricken. Fagan also finished fourth in the 300 hurdles.

Hendricken’s Luke Swift placed fourth in the high jump, while teammate Joe Dionne took fourth in the javelin. The Hendricken relay team of Antone, Abraham Wilkins, Ian Hopkins and Matt Rene later finished fourth in the 3,200 relay.

Pilgrim finished the day at 18th while Toll Gate took 24th.

GIRLS

Pilgrim finished the day with 10th-place finish while Toll Gate finished at 22.

Pilgrim’s Ciannie Foster claimed first place in the 100 dash as well as the long jump. Toll Gate’s Sophia Maynard finished fourth in the 1,500 run.
