Andrew Shapiro


Andrew Shapiro died at his home in North Bethesda, MD after a long, brave battle with Multiple System Atrophy on Friday, March 16, 2018. He leaves his beloved and devoted wife, Sharon James Shapiro, RN, and two loving children, Emmalee and Evan Shapiro.

Andrew was the treasured son of Audrey and of the late Robert J. Shapiro of Cranston, RI, and the admired brother of Steven B. Shapiro of Milton, MA. Andrew received his BA from Brown University and his JD with honors from Duke University School of Law. He practiced law in Houston, TX and Washington, DC and went on to assume a leadership role as a Senior Vice President, Healthcare at CNA Insurance Company. Andy was a sports lover and particularly favored the Boston Red Sox and the Duke Blue Devils Basketball team. He was an avid golfer and an early pioneer of the Fantasy Football movement.

I remember Andy from long ago. have not seen him in 40 years. but always remember him as a good guy, i was shocked to read of his passing. i knew him whole family forever. as did my family. very sorry to hear of his passing.
