Barbara Anne (Moriarty) Carroll, passed away Wednesday in North Kingstown, RI. She was 87.
Barbara was the daughter of the late Capt. Gerald Moriarty and Mary Moriarty. She was born on Nantucket, MA. and grew up in New Bedford. She graduated from Salve Regina University in Newport, in the school's second graduating class. Barbara became Rhode Island's first Certified Nurse Practioner in the early 1970's and spent many years serving patients at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence and the Rhode Island Department of Corrections in Cranston. She was the recipient of the Salve Regina Distinguished Alumna Award in 2009. She loved to travel, ride her bicycle, read and dote on her dogs.
Barbara leaves her sons John T. Carroll, Esq. of Warwick and Michael J. Carroll of New York, NY. She will also be missed by her nieces and nephews: Barbara Burr, Wendy Wakeman, Joshua Darwin, Susan Ordahl, Nancy Carroll, James Carroll, Robert Carroll and Jo-Anne Vittoriosio. Barbara was predeceased by her parents, her sister, M. Teresa Darwin, her brother, James Moriarty, and her niece, Lynne Carroll.
Her funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at 11:00am in St. Kevin's Church, 333 Sandy Lane, Warwick. Calling hours are omitted. Burial is private.
The family wishes to thank the management and staff of Roberts Health Center in North Kingstown for their excellent care, and Robin Maine of Warwick, Barbara's longtime aide and friend for her devotion.
