Trick or Trunk

St. Rose & Clement Church is holding Trick or Trunk Oct. 26 from 5:45-6:45 p.m. in the church parking lot. There will be games, a photo booth and cider for sale. Make sure to wear your costume with no masks or weapons.

Halloween Party

Warwick Assembly International Order of the Rainbow for Girls is having a Halloween party and prospect event Oct. 27 from 6-9 p.m. I.O.R.G. is a nonprofit youth group for girls of all ages. It will be held at Scottish Rite on 2115 Broad Street, Cranston. They will be having contests, games, refreshments and prizes. There is no charge for the event. Electronics Recycling Event

Asbury United Methodist Church is holding a fundraiser and electronics recycling event at 143 Ann Mary Brown Drive Oct. 27 from 9 a.m.-12 noon. Indie Cycle, LLC will be accepting electronic items including computers, laptops, monitors, televisions, routers, PDAs, cell phones, mice, keyboards, ink-jet printers, toner cartridges, CD/DVD players, radios, cameras, network equipment, wires, stereos, speakers, telephones, microwaves, small household appliances, and acid lead batteries such as auto/marine and back-ups – anything with a wire. A $10 disposal fee will be charged for laser-jet printers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers and other coolant-containing devices. No light bulbs, single use batteries, plastic tapes/disks, glass plates or bowls, broken TV tubes or hazardous materials. American Girl Doll Tea Party

Warwick Central Baptist Church will host an Americana Girl Doll Tea Party on Nov. 3 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the church in Apponaug. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children 5-12 and free for children under 5. There will be manicures for kids and their dolls as well as hair styling.  Different items will be sold such as bedding and furniture as well as matching outfits and clothing items for the kids and their dolls.  Tea and tea sandwiches will be served along with other refreshments. Bingo

Bingo will be held at St. Kevin’s Church hall, 333 Sandy Lane, Nov. 3. Doors open at 5 p.m., bingo starts at 6.

Woodbury Variety Show

The 15th annual Thompson Memorial Variety Show will be held Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. at Woodbury Union Presbyterian Church, 58 Beach Ave. The cost is $10 per person with children under 12 free. All proceeds will go to hurricane relief through the Presbyterian Disaster Relief Fund with 100 percent of the proceeds going directly to those in need. Come for a night of music and comedy unlike any church show you’ve ever seen.

Tragedy at the Trailer Park

“Tragedy at the Trailer Park” will be staged at the William Shields Post 43, 662 West Shore Road, Nov. 3 at 6:30 p.m. The American Legion Players have moved to the trailer park. As the evening occurs, can you guess who the killer is? Dinner will consist of Caesar salad and choice of shepherd’s pie or sloppy Joe and tater tots and there will be a dessert auction. Foxwoods & NYC Bus Trip

A bus leaves the Kent County YMCA at 12 noon Nov. 4 for Foxwoods, departing at 6 p.m. to return to the Y. Cost is $35 for YMCA members, $45 for program participants includes $15 slot play, $10 restaurant voucher or free buffet. Bus leaves the Kent County YMCA at 6:30 a.m. Dec. 15 for NYC, departing at 7 p.m. to return to the Y. Harvest Artisan Fair

Secret Garden

The Prout School will present “The Secret Garden,” an enchanting classic of children’s literature re-imagined in brilliant musical style, Nov. 16 and 17. Dangers of Appearance & Performance Enhancing Substances

Walk and Talk at Rocky Point

Walk and Talk at Rocky Point is a free walking group that meets on Tuesday mornings at 9 a.m. and Thursdays evenings at 6 p.m. They meet at the front gate. They walk at a moderate pace on the paved path that is about two miles. Dogs on leashes and children in strollers are welcome. U.S. Masters Swimming Program

The Kent County YMCA has a Masters Swim Program on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-7 a.m. and Sundays from 5-6:45 p.m. starting in May and running through August.  This aquatic fitness program, for anyone aged 18 or older, offers encouragement, camaraderie and support. Learn drills, improve stroke technique and proper breathing. Pilgrim Senior Center

The Pilgrim Senior Enrichment Center, located at 27 Pilgrim Parkway, offers educational, nutritional and recreational programs to folks 55 years of age and older. The center is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Developmental Screening

The Child Outreach Department of the Warwick Public Schools, in cooperation with the Volunteers of Warwick schools (VOWS), conducts regular preschool screening clinics. All Warwick preschool children between the ages of 3 and 5 are offered the Early Screening Inventory-Revised (ESI-R). This is a free service provided by the Warwick Public Schools. Participation in a Developmental Screening is a long established program of the Warwick School Department that provides families with information about their child’s development and offers information about community resources. Moms for Moms

Support a new mother, share your experience and make a new friend. You can make a difference with just one hour a week. Moms for Moms/Families First RI helps pregnant women and new mothers deal with an enormous transition by matching them with trained volunteers who are mothers themselves. The program provides emotional and social support and strives to connect new moms to resources within their own communities. Mentors develop a warm, supportive relationship while spending time with the new mom in their homes, accompanying them on outings and attending mom gatherings. Are you a victim of physical or sexual assault, domestic violence, untreated childhood abuse, or another crime or traumatic event? Volunteers Needed to Sew

Looking for something to do to help foster kids? Organizers of The Sewing Project to Help Foster Kids are looking for volunteers who want to help sew pillowcase or duffel bags for foster children. Currently their belongings are sometimes put in black trash bags. Foster parent Adriane Grimaldi in Scottsdale, Ariz. started the Sewing Project in February 2008 for children taken from their homes by Child Protective Services (CPS) to make kid-friendly bags for carrying their belongings instead of trash bags. To date, people have made 6,700 pillowcase bags for foster kids Pillowcase bags are delivered to CPS to use instead of trash bags. The Sewing Project has opened a new Rhode Island Chapter working with the Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) and is in need of volunteers to sew. Domestic Abuse Support Groups

The Elizabeth Buffum Chace Center is a non-profit agency providing services to victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault. The agency offers morning and evening support groups for adults dealing with current or past domestic abuse Groups provide a safe place to talk with others who have shared similar experiences.
