Mayor Joseph Solomon will take the oath of office at a City Council meeting to be held Tuesday, Jan. 8 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. The meeting, where elected members of the council and School Committee will also be administered the oath of office, will start at 6 p.m.
Plans for the inauguration ceremony were still being finalized yesterday, but the Police and Fire color guard and the Pawtuxet Rangers are expected to attend. Invitations have been mailed to both current and former elected officials.
A reception will be held following the inauguration and, traditionally, a brief council meeting where the City Council president is elected.
The event is open to the public.

WwkVoter, like you, I look forward to next week's swearing-in of the actual elected officials in Warwick. Mayor Solomon and the new city councilors deserve credit for their electoral success.
Here's hoping they take that mandate and responsibly address the many issues facing the city.
