McArdle named to dean’s list

Maxwell McArdle, an accounting major from Warwick, was among 2,400 Coastal Carolina University students named to the fall 2018 dean’s list. The dean’s list recognizes students who earn a 3.5 or higher grade point average. Coastal Carolina University is located in Myrtle beach, South Carolina.

Area residents members of Tufts Class of 2022

Joseph Murtha of East Greenwich and Jake Barkin of Warwick were selected among 21,501 applicants to continue their academic career at Tufts University. Tufts University is located in Somerville, Massachusetts. Only 1,472 of the applicants were admitted, which was the second-lowest acceptance the University has experienced.

Carry inducted into Honor Society

Anna Carry of Warwick was inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi honor society at Jacksonville University. Phi Kappa Phi is the nation’s most selective and oldest all-discipline honor society for college students. Only the top 7.5 percent of juniors and top 10 percent of seniors are inducted each year.

Brennan selected to lead peer health education

Cameron Brennan, a communications major of Warwick, was selected to be a Peer Health Educator at Lasell College. Lasell College is located in Newton, Massachusetts. Brennan is one of 19 students selected by Lasell’s Office of Health Education to lead the program for the 2018-2019 academic year.

Ingegneri earns Cross-Country all-conference honor

Avery Ingegneri of Warwick received all-conference accolades in the New England Women’s and Men’s athletic conference for his cross-country performance at the 2018 championships. Ingegneri is a member of the Worcester Polytechnic Institute cross- country team and this is the second consecutive season he has received all-conference accolades.

Horvat named captain of collegiate basketball team

Tom Horvat of Cranston was named captain of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s men’s basketball team. Horvat averages 20 points per game, and is ranked ninth in school history with a total 1,174 points. Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is located in Troy, New York and contends in the Liberty league.

Bordeleau returns from intensive research project

Dillon Bordeleau, a junior computer science major at Worcester Polytechnic Institute from Cranston, has returned from a research project involving the study of traffic congestion in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Worecester Polytechnic Institute is located in Worcester, Massachusetts. Bordeleau, alongside a team of other students, worked with the New Mexico Department of Transportation to assess traffic congestion data.
