STOLEN MONEY

Officer Rose Michel met with a complainant in the lobby of police headquarters on August 16 around 1:45 p.m. to take a larceny report.

The woman stated that she visited TJ Maxx and Home Goods on Bald Hill Road at approximately 10:30 a.m. She entered the restroom with her brown Coach wallet containing $105. She then exited the restroom, however about 15 minutes later she realized she left her wallet in the stall. When she went to retrieve her wallet, it was no longer there.

The woman went to the customer service desk, however no one had turned in the wallet. She then returned to the restroom and found the wallet in the garbage, however it was empty and the money was missing.

There are currently no suspects or witnesses, however the case was forwarded to department detectives for review.

SHOPLIFTING

On August 16 at approximately 3:08 p.m., Officer Michael Bailey was dispatched to the Bald Hill Road Walmart for a report of a shoplifting with a female suspect in custody.

Officer Bailey spoke with the store’s loss prevention officer, who stated she observed the woman, who was later identified as Melissa Miller, 43, of 1856 Mineral Spring Avenue Apt. F in North Providence, select multiple items of clothing and place them in a shopping cart. The items were later concealed in a Walmart bag.

Miller was also observed allegedly selecting and eating cupcakes in the store before exiting the store without paying. She was approached outside by security and brought back into the store, where $104.52 worth of merchandise was recovered. She was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters, where she was booked and processed for shoplifting, first offense.

On August 17 around 6:41 p.m. Officer Tyler Stone along with Officer O’Dell responded to the Warwick Mall Macy’s for a shoplifting report with a male and female in custody.

At the store the officers spoke with a loss prevention officer who stated that she observed Joey Roldan, 37, of 54 Chestnut Street in Hartford, and Jacquelyn Gorman, 28, of 50 Aylsworth Avenue in Woonsocket, select various items and conceal them in bags that they brought into the store. The pair were observed taking the items, visiting a changing room, then exiting with less items than they entered with several times.

Both parties then exited the store without making an attempt to pay for the merchandise. They were then approached by security and brought back inside.

Roldan was allegedly found to have $277.96 worth of concealed merchandise, while Gorman had $716.26 worth of items. A written receipt of the valuables was provided to the officers as evidence, as was a DVD with footage of the incident.

The pair was placed under arrest for misdemeanor shoplifting. They were then taken to police headquarters for processing.

During processing, it was discovered that Roldan was on probation in Connecticut and that Gorman was listed as a party he was not allowed to have contact with. A copy of the police report outlining the shoplifting was forwarded to Connecticut. Roldan was reminded of the terms of his probation. Both were later released with a court summons.

ATTEMPTED LARCENY

At approximately 8:47 a.m. on August 18, Officer James Wenneman was dispatched to Herff Jones, located at Herff Jones way, for a report of an attempted larceny.

Once on scene he spoke with an employee, who stated that when he arrived at work he discovered that two storage containers were broken into. The containers had a broken lever, and a padlock had been cut off.

When he opened the container doors he discovered that its contents had been strewn around. Apparently nothing had been taken from the containers. Detectives were contacted and they responded to process the scene.

STOLEN MARINE EQUIPMENT

Officer David Thompson was dispatched to Brewer Yacht Yard on Folly Landing Road on August 17 around noon for a larceny complaint.

At the scene the officer met with the owner of the involved boat, who stated that he found his Garmin GPS along with two fishing reels were missing. A total of $1,700 worth of equipment was missing from the boat.

There are currently no suspects or witnesses.
