Donald D. Murphy


Donald D. Murphy, 67 of Mount Dora, Florida, formerly of Riverside, Rhode Island passed away October 11, 2012 at Florida Hospital Altamonte Springs.

He was the son of the late George A. Murphy, Sr. and Adelaide C. Murphy. He served in the Army Reserves from 1964-1968. He was Operations Officer/Systems Analyst for Rhode Island Hospital Trust from 1965-1980. He moved to Florida in 1982 and traveled extensively e working many years in the Banking, Financial Services and Information Technology Services. He did documentation design and preparation sales support and client support and training. He was the lead analyst on numerous loan system conversions and portfolio acquisitions and numerous bank operations of software development projects. He was senior business analyst for Metavante Bank Solutions, formerly Kirchman Corporation, before retiring in 2006. His favorite place in the world was the Magic Kingdom, Disney World. He was a great tour guide for family and friends when visiting Disney.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years Janice (Smith) Murphy; and two sons Donald D.Murphy, Jr. of Memphis, Tennessee and Brian Murphy and his wife, Sherri of Rowlette, Texas; and grandchildren

Daggan, Claudia and Rosemarie Murphy and Timothy and Tessie Murphy. Also survived by two brothers, George A. Murphy and Ronald G. Murphy, fours sisters, Jean C. Murphy, Barbara A. Carroll, Addie C. Silva and Corinne J. Bellavance. He was the brother of the late Kathryn F. Rezendes.

A memorial Mass was held on October 27, 2012 at St. Barnabas Church, Portsmouth, R.I.
