Donald E. Sanita, Sr., 78, passed away unexpectedly, Friday, June 9, 2017 at Kent Hospital. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth Ann (Hayes) Sanita. Donald was the beloved companion of Carol A. Coutu.
He was a son of the late Ernest and Marjorie (Rice) Sanita. Mr. Sanita was a truck driver for Tilcon-Gammino Construction and a member of Teamsters Local 251 AFL-CIO. He was a veteran of the United States Army and United States Air Force. He enjoyed spending time with family, was an avid Elvis Presley fan and classic car enthusiast.
Mr. Sanita was the father of Donald E. Sanita, Jr. (Donna), Lori M. Sanita Tiburcio (the late Scott Casey); grandfather of Alyssa Smith (Jason), Matthew Sanita, and Joseph Tiburcio; brother of William Sanita (Kathy), Ann Marie Reese (the late Robert), and the late Kenneth Sanita (the late Marian). He is survived by three step-children: William, Alan, and Jay Foster, and like a father to Edward Marr (Becky), Aundria Hunter (Vance), Carol Greenless (Dennis), Linda Marr, Thomas Marr, Susan Cardenas (Richard), and the late Judy Lynn Slaton (Bruce); and their eighteen children and seven grandchildren.
His funeral service will be held Friday, June 16, 2017 at 10 a.m. in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Chapel, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick. Burial with military honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 p.m.
