Thursday's Movies in the Park showing of Zootopia, at Rocky Point has been postponed to August 24. In the interest of safety, this postponement was due to the risk of thunderstorms and strong winds. “We just want everyone to be safe,” said Lauren E.I Slocum, president/CEO of the Central Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce.
Supported through varying sponsorships, Movies in the Park has been running for three years featuring three to four movies per season. Slocum estimated an attendance of 1,000 people per show.
"We were so excited, but we need to focus on what’s next, and we look forward to reloading Zootopia," said Slocum.
Movies in the park will continue with their schedule showing Moana on July 27. The gates will open at 5:30 p.m. Admission and parking are free.
