Edward C. “Poppy” Kittell

Edward C. “Poppy” Kittell, 81, a garment cutter for Custom Craft before retiring, passed away January 23, 2020 at home.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Charles F. and Catherine J. (Taylor) Kittell. He served in the United States Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis and was a member of the American Legion. Edward was a kind and gentle giant who enjoyed spending time with family. He will be fondly remembered for his quirky sense of humor, his soft words and infinite wisdom. This great man will be greatly missed.

He was the husband of the late Janice A. (Desjardins) Kittell and the loving father of Donna A. Costa and her husband, Ed, of Griswold, Conn. and Sandra Kittell of Richmond. He was the father of the late Paul Kittell, Marie Kittell and Debra M. Kittell Boisvert. Poppy was the cherished grandfather of Janice, Kayla, Jade and Abby Boisvert, Amanda and Ryan Costa and Conner and Lauren Kittell-Porter. He had seven great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Robert Kittell, Wesley Kittell and Donald Kittell.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Tuesday, January 28 at 10 a.m. in Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Chapel, 2435 Warwick Avenue, Warwick. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, East Greenwich. Visiting hours were Monday, Jan. 27.
