Eleanor “Ellie” (Soule) McJunkins, 78, of Wakefield, died on Monday, December 11, 2017, at home after a long battle with lymphoma.

Born March 25, 1939, in Providence to Thomas F. And Doris M. (Gill) Soule, she graduated from Warwick Veterans High School and North Adams State Teachers College. She began her elementary school teaching career in North Kingstown, lived for several years in Illinois, and then returned to Warwick and worked in other fields before returning to teaching in Cranston. She spent the majority of her career teaching ESL students at Edgewood Highlands Elementary School, then worked for two years at Bain Middle School before retiring in 2011. A dedicated member of the community, Ellie attended St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church in Kingston. During the summer, she lived at Roy Carpenter’s Beach in Matunuck, where she enjoyed the company of many long-time friends. Ellie's friends always commented on her high level of energy and adventurous spirit, which led to many new experiences, including travel throughout the United States and abroad.

Ellie is survived by her daughter, Kristin R. McJunkins of Connecticut; a brother, Thomas F. Soule Jr, and wife Jane of Missouri; niece Rebecca Hassy and nephew Robert Soule and wife Essie of Louisiana; several other relatives; and long-time companion Jerry Judge.

A memorial service will be held at St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church, 15 Lower College Road, Kingston, on Saturday, December 16 at 10:30 a.m.

To honor Ellie’s spirit and love of the New England Patriots, guests are asked to wear Patriots apparel or team colors.
