Fingerprint Charms with Sue Gray

Posted by NewportHistory

The Newport Historical Society hosts local artist, Sue Gray, at the Newport History Museum & Shop as she takes personal fingerprint pressings to create one of a kind keepsake charms.

Newport resident, Sue Gray, has been hand-crafting timeless jewelry for 29 years from fine metals, sea glass, semi-precious gemstones, and pearls, all while finding inspiration in history. Gray’s vast personal collection of antique wax seals and fobs are used to create molds for her handmade charms and pendants. Sue Gray Jewelry has an immense global following with over 3200 five-star reviews on Etsy alone.

Gray will take the fingerprint pressings to her home studio where she will use the pressings to create unique molds to make one of a kind fine silver charms. The finished charm will feature the fingerprint on one side and a stamped initial on the other, be made of fine silver (99% pure silver), and measure about 5/8” in size.

Charms will be available for pick up from the Newport History Museum & Shop on Saturday, May 28th (or shipped for an additional cost). If one wants to create a necklace with the charm, chains, birthstone, pearl, and sea glass charms, and other Sue Gray trinket charms will be available for purchase as well.
