Florence E. (Briggs) Monahan, 91, a retired RE Specialist, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Hope Hospice & Palliative Care RI, Providence. She was the wife of the late Francis J. Monahan.

She was a daughter of the late Harold E. and Ruth A. (Kelley) Briggs. Florence was a former employee of BA Ballou Company and Ballantine, where she met her husband. After raising her children, she worked with the Warwick Community Action Program. She was the secretary at the Seminary at Our Lady of Providence.

She was an avid gardener with a “green thumb,” growing her flowers, fruit trees and vegetables. Her most abundant amount of plants were “in-house” violets, giving many of them away, as she had so many.

Florence was the beloved mother of Honey C. Saylor, Kathleen A. Monahan, Elizabeth F. Monahan, Nancy C. Monahan, Leslie J. Telo (John), Patrick T. Monahan (Brenda), Peter J. Monahan (Rose) and the late Barbara R. DeCosta-Bevilacqua and Janice E. Rosewell; loving grandmother of Patricia, Nancy, Rene, Venus, Kathleen, Christopher, Sean, Sarah J., Michelle-Lynn, Carrie, Erin, Nathan, Sarah E., Sabrina and Michael, Jr.; loving great-grandmother of Dante, Niko, Aimee, McKenna, Jay, Benjamin, Briella, Samantha, Olivia, Sophia, Abriel, Christopher, Matthew, Maddox and Temperance; great-great-grandmother of Alyson. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was the sister of the late Ruth M. Baker, Harold E. Briggs Jr. and Dorothy E. Tundis.

Relatives and friends are invited to a funeral service Saturday, March 21 at 11 a.m. in Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Chapel, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick.
