See It at the Movies

* * * ½ (Joyce)

(Disney sequel)

Joyce and I agree that the drawings and colors of this Disney sequel are spectacular. The animated feature is certainly more than a "cartoon.” It is musical theatre for kids, with some beautiful songs that help tell the story, as all the favorite "Frozen" characters return to the enchanted forest.

The young ones know the story far better than us older folks, following the adventures of Elsa, her sister Princess Ann, Olaf the snowman, and Kristoff and his reindeer as they discover the truth about their ancestors. The spirits are rekindled and the opposing Northrudo inhabitants and Arendellian soldiers are brought together to live in harmony, thanks to Elsa' magic powers and a little help from her friends. And everyone lives happily ever after.

If all this is a bit much to digest, ask any child to explain it to you.

Rated PG, with some moments of terror, but don't let those big rock monsters scare you. (Spoiler alert) They eventually come to Elsa's aid.
