Gasoline prices in Rhode Island are down four cents this week, according to AAA Northeast.
AAA’s September 9 survey of prices in Rhode Island finds self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.52 per gallon. Rhode Island’s price is four cents lower than the national average for regular unleaded of $2.56. A year ago at this time, the average price in Rhode Island was thirty-four cents higher at $2.86.
“Gasoline demand in early September generally declines along with supplies as refineries undergo maintenance and prepare for the switchover to winter-blend gas,” said Diana Imondi, AAA Northeast Manager of Public Affairs & Traffic Safety. “These typical trends mean savings for motorists, leading the way for potentially some of the cheapest gas prices at the end of the year.”
The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 36 cents, from a low of $2.37 to a high of $2.73.
