Gasoline prices in Rhode Island are up six cents this week, according to AAA Northeast.
AAA’s March 18 survey of prices in Rhode Island finds self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.46 per gallon. Rhode Island’s price is eight cents lower than the national average for regular unleaded of $2.54. A year ago at this time, the average price in Rhode Island was seven cents higher at $2.53.
“Since early February, gasoline demand has been steadily increasing while stocks have been gradually decreasing, which has boosted pump prices across the country,” said Lloyd Albert, AAA Northeast Senior Vice President of Public and Government Affairs. “Butt the good news is that most motorists are not paying more at the pump than they were at this time last year.”
The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 39 cents, from a low of $2.30 to a high of $2.69. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time.
