To the Editor:

My sincere thanks to the Warwick Beacon and reporter Max Frazier for the piece on a recent honor I received from the Senior Agenda Coalition. In my remarks at that event, I noted that I share the honor from the Senior Agenda Coalition with the seniors and staff at the Pilgrim Senior Center. Our seniors are quick to mobilize when the situation calls for it and are, without a doubt, the best advocates on issues involving older Rhode Islanders.

If asked to advocate for the Pilgrim Senior center and for older Rhode Islanders, they write letters, make phone calls, attend legislative forums, and have even joined me at the State House to testify in favor of programs and funding that support the Center. The staff at Pilgrim is the most dedicated, compassionate I have ever known. They never stop working to improve the quality of lives for older Rhode Islanders. I am truly only the face of the honor awarded by the Senior Agenda Coalition.

While I am grateful for the gracious Beacon coverage, there was an error in the piece: In fact, I do care a great deal about the honor I received from the Senior Agenda Coalition. I am both incredibly honored and humbled. My sincere thanks to Bill Flynn and the Senior Agenda Coalition, Senator Jack Reed, Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, General Treasurer Seth Magaziner, Mayor Joseph Solomon who, like Senator Reed, took time out of his busy schedule to attend the event, and Pawtucket Mayor Don Grebien.
