Fun, food and fellowship!

Those words, as well as some super shopping bargains, raffle prizes and home-cooked food best describe Saturday’s St. Barnabas Episcopal Church Holiday Bazaar in Warwick.

Chairperson Emily Seddon said the Holiday Bazaar was “a special success” and she “was very pleased with the turnout (of shoppers) who came to support our parish. It was all thanks to the parishioners – both old and new – who stepped up to volunteer in a number of capacities.”

Likewise, Rev. Scott Lee, pastor at St. Barnabas who served as a one-man public relations band/greeter throughout the six-hour event said,“Thank you to all the people who attended the Holiday Bazaar. This is a long-standing tradition in Warwick and we are delighted you chose to visit us today.”

Seddon, meanwhile, heaped words of praise upon parishioners and all those who played special roles in Saturday’s success. She follows in the footsteps of her mother Heidi Seddon who chaired the Holiday Bazaar for years.

As a couple said while leaving Schweitzer Hall, which is located on the ground level of St. Barnabas Church: “These people have a way of making this special ever year and the food’s always good. It seems to always run like a well-oiled machine.”

That’s because Saturday’s Holiday Bazaar, which many people rated “a special old-fashioned holiday event”, was – and always has been – the 136-year-old Episcopal parish’s largest fund-raiser of the year.
