On Feb. 14, the American Heart Association and Southern New England Go Red for Women movement will hold its annual luncheon from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Rhode Island Convention Center.
The event is split into two sections. The Festival of Red will begin at 10:30 a.m. and includes a Macy’s Beauty Bar, chair massages, health screenings, cooking demos, samples of healthy foods from local restaurants and a “Roving photo booth.” The Heart Healthy Lunch and Go Red Experience begins at noon. Attendees will be served lunch, hear from Lisa Abbott, senior vice president of Human Resources and Community Affairs and other keynote speakers and learn about the 2019 Class of Heart2Heart storytellers.
The luncheon brings awareness to heart disease, generating funds to support education and research and promoting healthy lifestyles.
Tickets can be purchased on the Go Red for Women website. The cost is $125 for each person. There is also a space for additional donations.
The Go Red For Women campaign was created 15 years ago to raise awareness about heart disease among women. Today, the organization is considered a movement and is focused on providing women with opportunities to have the ability to take charge of their own health, building supportive communities, gaining equal healthcare for women and their families and increasing the presence of women in STEM for future generations.
