Henry R. Champoux

Henry R. Champoux, age 82, formerly of Foxcroft Avenue, Warwick, died on Sunday, August 13, 2017, at Kent County Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Mary M. (Aitken) Champoux.

Born in Cranston, a son of the late Ovila H. Champoux and Gladys J. (Lavallee) Maher, he lived in Warwick since 1960. Mr. Champoux was a master electrician, and the owner of the former Champ’s Electric in Warwick for more than 40 years. He was a 50-year active member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Warwick, and had served as both junior and senior warden, sexton, and long-time choir member. He was a member of many choral groups, most recently the Chorus of Kent County, and with his wife, had been a team leader for Marriage Encounter.

He is survived by two daughters, Jeanne Soares and her husband Thomas, of Warwick, and Patricia Sims and her husband Stephen, of Noblesville IN; a sister, Constance Louth of Warwick; a brother, George Champoux of Aurora, CO; five grandchildren: Nathan, Tara, Pamela, Christopher, and Patrick and their families which include eight great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Robert Champoux and Raymond Champoux.

His funeral will be held on Thursday, August 17, at 9 a.m. from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick, with a Requiem Eucharist at 10 a.m. in St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 111 West Shore Road, Warwick. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
