A Hollywood everyman is like a next door neighbor or a best friend. It feels good to spend time with an everyman, and very few stars can be one because what makes them unique is that they seem perfectly ordinary.

See four films staring beloved Hollywood everyman James Stewart at Warwick Public Library on Thursdays at 2 p.m.

On February 20, enjoy Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939), starring James Stewart and Claude Rains. Boyish do-gooder Jefferson Smith fights to maintain his ideals when he fills a vacant seat in the U.S. Senate.

On February 27, watch The Philadelphia Story (1940), starring James Stewart, Cary Grant, and Katharine Hepburn. Reporter Macaulay Connor falls in love with Philadelphia socialite Tracy Lord when he reports on her wedding.

On March 5, see The Flight of the Phoenix (1966), starring James Stewart and Richard Attenborough. Pilot Frank Towns and engineer Heinrich Dorfmann strain to rebuild and fly a cargo plane stranded in the Sahara.

On March 12, sit back for The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962), starring James Stewart and John Wayne. Senator Ransom Stoddard reveals the truth about his reputation as the killer of outlaw Liberty Valance.
