Student creativity shines at ECC’s Art Show

The Early Childhood Center’s Art Show attracted nearly 400 people to Johnston’s first-ever all-day kindergarten last Thursday night.

Families like the Pistacchios – Jon, Kristy, and their two children – took in the colorful collection of work done by ECC students as they walked through the school’s corridors.

“This is so great. I wish I could keep it up all year,” said Julie-anne Zarrella, the ECC’s principal.

Zarrella praised Kim Marshall, the ECC’s art teacher, for “this beautiful display of our children’s many, many talents.”

“Kim prepares all year for this big event,” Zarrella added. “The walls were decorated with artwork from all the kindergarten classes. Their artwork represents their depictions of various children’s stories and art themes that Mrs. Marshall read and reviewed with her students throughout the year.”

In addition to checking out the student artwork, those in attendance were invited to participate in several of the interactive art stations Marshall set up especially for the show.

“The children were delighted to see and share their masterpieces,” Zarrella said. “Our guests also loved the fact that Mrs. Marshall even prepared homemade treats.”

Zarrella also issued a special thanks to the ECC faculty, staff, and Parent-Teacher-Organization.
