To the Editor:
I am on an ancestry mission. My father, Henry “Hank Ace” Blackburn, was a left-handed baseball pitcher out of Lockwood High School back in the mid-1940s. He was a legend in the Westcott section of Warwick while my sisters and I were growing up. Whenever we would meet someone they would ask if we were related to him.
I know a few photos appeared in the Pawtuxet Valley Times and Kent Daily newspapers – of Giusti Café and Security Cleansers. I am just wondering if anyone would have access to those photos or any others for that matter that I could obtain copies of. I have a son who was a good pitcher back in his Little League and High School days and I also have a twelve-year-old grandson who never got to know our dad because he passed away in 1998. My grandson is very talented and I want to share some family history with him. I am even looking for the Lockwood High yearbooks from 1945-1947.
I miss talks with Amby Smith and Christopher Rallis who actually knew Dad and watched him play. Thank you all so much in advance if you can help or tell me a story. My office number is (401) 941-2212. Please leave me a message and I will call you back. Much appreciation.
