Incoming CEO looks to broaden Kent Center health services

Posted

Daniel J. Kubas-Meyer has joined the Kent Center as its president and CEO, succeeding David Lauterbach, who retired recently.

Kubas-Meyer brings over 30 years of expertise serving as a lifelong advocate for people suffering from behavioral health issues. He has also done considerable work helping individuals who have been impacted by chronic homelessness.

“I have had the privilege of working with The Kent Center and its former CEO David S. Lauterbach for over two decades,” said Kubas-Meyer. “I am honored to accept the position of president and CEO, and I will carry on The Kent Center’s mission of improving the quality of life of its clients while working to ensure the Center retains its vital role in helping to shape the evolving healthcare delivery system.”

Kubas-Meyer’s goals include broadening The Kent Center’s comprehensive array of health services, collaborating with community partners on behavioral health initiatives, advocating on behalf of underserved clients, and ensuring services are of the highest quality and easily accessible throughout Rhode Island.

Kubas-Meyer formerly served as executive director of Riverwood Mental Health Services based in Warren, Rhode Island, which recently merged with The Kent Center. The merger has enabled The Kent Center to expand its geographical scope of community mental healthcare services and substance abuse programs beyond Kent County and into Providence and East Bay. The merger has also strengthened the organization’s programs assisting individuals who have been impacted by homelessness. The Kent Center  employs approximately 270 staff, and has an operating budget of more than $21 Million.

Established in 1976, The Kent Center (TKC) provides comprehensive behavioral healthcare programs and services to over 5,000 children, adolescents, adults, and seniors in Rhode Island. TKC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation whose programs are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. For more information visit www.thekentcenter.org.
