Irene Helen Bushman (née Jagiellowicz), age 95, of Warwick, RI, passed away on March 10, 2018, in Madison, WI. She was the wife of the late Earl Bushman.
She was born on July 22, 1922, in Providence, RI, daughter of Maria and Boleslaw Jagiellowicz. Irene’s parents, immigrants from Poland, died during her childhood, so she and her siblings were raised in an orphanage in Providence. After graduating high school, Irene studied nursing, becoming an RN. In 1943, she married Earl E. Bushman, Jr., and together they had three children, Marilyn Bushman Remick and Steven and Wade Bushman. Irene was an accomplished artist and a wonderful cook.
She was a loving grandmother to Kinda Remick Priestley and Emily, Mary, and Norah Bushman, and great-grandmother to Georgia, Harry, Owen, and Emma Priestley.
A visitation will be held at Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, March 23, 2018. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Gregory the Great Church, 360 Cowesett Rd., Warwick. Burial will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter, beside her husband, Earl. www.murphyfuneralhomes.org
