J. Ernest St. Jean, age 96, formerly of Janet Drive, Warwick, died on Sunday, July 2, 2017, at the Rhode Island Veterans Home in Bristol. He was the husband of the late Gloria M. (Beaudoin) St. Jean.

Born in West Warwick, a son of the late Arthur and Diana (Blanchette) St. Jean, he lived in Canton, MA for 20 years before returning to Warwick almost 40 years ago. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. St. Jean was employed as a mechanical engineer at Ark-Les Corp. in Stoughton, MA for 30 years, retiring as vice president and general manager in 1980. He was a registered professional engineer in Massachusetts. He was a member of the Coventry-West Greenwich Lodge of Elks #2285.

He is survived by three sons, J. Ernest St. Jean and his wife Carole of Hull, MA, Paul J. St. Jean and his wife Marylou of Warwick, and Thomas A. St. Jean and his wife Sharon of Danvers, MA; a daughter, Lea Knepley and her husband Andrew of Warwick; a brother, Normand St. Jean of West Warwick; six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Lionel, Arthur, and Lea St. Jean, Diana Cleary, Lauriann Levesque, Ona Tellier and Cecile Tellier.

His funeral will be held on Monday, July 10, at 9 a.m. from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Peter Church, 350 Fair Street, Warwick. Burial with military honors will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours will be on Sunday from 4-7 p.m.
