Jean L. (Aukerman) Johnson, 86, died Sunday, September 9, 2018. She was the wife of the late Richard H. “Pop” Johnson.
Born in Boston, a daughter of the late Kathleen Stasiowski-Worthington, and step-daughter of the late Frank Stasiowski, she resided in Warwick since 1954. Jean had worked as a supervisor with the Foster Grandparents Assoc. for 15 years, and had served on its Board of Directors. She was active with Meeting Street School, and was the first parent to serve on its Board of Directors. A communicant of St. Rita Church for over 60 years, she had served as President and Treasurer of the St. Rita Woman’s Club.
She was the beloved mother of Kathleen V. Zabbo, Philip H. Johnson, Susan J. LeComte, Mary C. Johnson, Alice V. Johnson, and the late James V. Johnson; mother-in-law of Wendy Johnson, Richard LeComte, and the late Dr. August Zabbo. Sister of Frank and Alan Stasiowski. She also leaves her beloved seven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Saturday from 9-10:30 a.m. in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Avenue, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11a.m. in St. Rita Church, Oakland Beach Avenue. Burial will follow in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown.
