John E. Leonardo, age 76, of Farnum Road, Warwick, died unexpectedly at home on Thursday, July 12, 2018. He was the husband of Barbara A. (Murphy) Leonardo. They were married for 49 years.
Born in Providence, the son of the late John G. and Olive (Perry) Leonardo, he lived in Warwick for the last 44 years. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War era. Mr. Leonardo was an ironworker, and a member of Iron Workers Local # 37 in East Providence. He was later employed for 10 years at Stern-Leach Co. in Attleboro, MA, retiring 10 years ago.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Amy E. Gallagher and her husband David, of Warwick; a sister, Elizabeth Minassian of Cranston; and two grandchildren: Dylan P. Gallagher and Megan M. Gallagher. He was the father of the late John D. Leonardo.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 17, at 9 a.m. from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Clement Church, 111 Long Street, Warwick. Burial will be private. www.barrettandcotter.com
