Joseph E. Bennett, 87, of Warwick, died Saturday, March 31, 2018 at the Veterans Regional Medical Center, Providence. He was the beloved husband of Joan Marion (Hagerty) Bennett.
He was born in Yorkshire NY, a son of the late Eli and Clarissa Bennett. Joseph was a United States Army Veteran serving as a Corporal in the Korean War. He was a welder for Electric boat Division of General Dynamics, before retiring. Mr. Bennett was a member of Sts. Rose and Clement Parish, and a member of the William Shields Post 43.
Besides his wife he is survived by his sons Paul E. Bennett of Warwick, Michael J. Bennett of Charlestown and David F. Bennett of Alexandria, Va. Mr. Bennett was the brother of the late Mary Greene and Sr. Helen Bennett, R.S.M.
His funeral will be held Thursday , April 5, 2018 at 8:30 a.m. from the Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Clement Church, 111 Long Street, Warwick. Burial will be held in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter, RI.
